I was reading a thread at a big webmaster forum yesterday which made the claim that “SEO is dead.” Now, it’s hard to say whether or not the original poster was being serious or sarcastic, but he referenced some other news he’d been reading on a few authority sites that made the “dead” claim.

The notion was that, because of the prevalence of Web 2.0 community sites, the idea of needing to optimize for any of the engines was going away — and fast. The idea was also put forth by another poster that, because of the huge number of content management systems that are already setup to be “search engine friendly”, the need to have any additional knowledge to rank well was quickly diminishing.

My answer to all this? Poppycock.

First, while it is true that there are many CMS programs that are search engine friendly out of the box, on-page factors matter so little to ranking (at least in Google) that even if the on-page playing field was leveled, it would make little difference in the current search engine results.

Second, SEO is about far more than just what’s on the page. The way you analyze what keywords are worth optimizing for, the way you write the content around those keywords, and the links you get to the pages that you want to rank for those keywords all have a large role to play in how much traffic you get from the search engines — and that analysis takes specialized knowledge. Anyone can learn to do it, but it does have to be learned.

Third, and most importantly, Web 2.0 is nice, and sites that revolve around that kind of community are huge traffic mongers (e.g. YouTube), but there will always be a need for full-text indexing of the web.

So is SEO dead? Nope. It’s alive and well, and will be for as long as people need to search for information on the web.

Sciatic Nerve Pain can be one of the most debilitating and uncomfortable pain that a person has to go through and without corrective measures it can go on for a very long time. Read on to find out how you can achieve lasting relief from sciatica at home and without harmful pain relieving drugs.

Before starting out in your quest to rid yourself of sciatic pain it is very important to have your condition accurately diagnosed by a medical professional. There are a number of causes of sciatica and it is essential that any diseases or infections are dealt with before anything else.

The main cause of sciatica is pressure on the nerve at the L4/L5 or L5/S1 area of the spine and this pressure can come from any number of sources and doesn’t necessarily have to end with surgery. More often than not the condition is caused by muscle imbalances that can be treated with the correct exercises and more and more people are turning away from the surgery option and finding success with good exercise programs that address these muscular problems.

Such muscle imbalances can result in spasms of the erector spinae muscles that surround each side of your spine, a tilted or rotated pelvis caused by tight shoulder muscles can also result in sciatic nerve pressure and general weakness in the lower back muscles can also result in disabling sciatic pain. With the right program that shows you first how to identify which areas need attention and then detail a plan for setting these right, your sciatic pain can soon be a thing of the past.

“But I need relief NOW!” you might say. Well without getting into the nitty-gritty of why the use of regular pain relief medication should be avoided, particularly long term use, the best relief you will get is from alternating the use of hot and cold packs and taking a anti-inflammatory to control the swelling of the area. Now days there are some great all natural anti-inflammatory/pain relieving products on the market and there is simply no need to subject your body to the harmful effects of regular pain medications any more.

Unfortunately there is no magic cure for sciatica and back pain and finding lasting relief takes a little bit of work but if you are anything like me after three years of suffering I saw a few daily exercises as a walk in the park compared to what I had been through.

Don’t suffer in pain any longer! Check out the Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief guide and give your body a break with a healthy dose of the all natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever Heal N Soothe. Your body will thank you for it!

Cutting with a hunting knife that is becoming dull is 10 times more difficult, which is a fact every experienced hunter knows. What is important here is that you have the ability to feel how your knife is changing the cutting pattern because the blade became dull. With this ability, you’ll be able to quickly figure out when it is necessary to sharpen your blade.

With the right tools, you can do just that, but it takes more than going to the store and picking out the cheap sharpening tool. It takes ingenuity to figure the best product and material to purchase for your particular hunting knife. You can find three most used knife sharpeners for hunting knives: ceramic, diamond and Arkansas Stone. Let’s take a look to see how each of these types can aid you in sharpening your hunting knife.

The most used type of sharpener among hunters is an Arkansas Stone sharpener. Knife sharpeners like these are easy to find, and what is best, they bring good results for centuries. You will see that there re different grades of this stone, because it has different degrees of roughness.

To get a different sharpness of your knife, you need to use one grade over another. Most men who are spending a lot of their time outdoors know that Arkansas Stone is the best, in spite of many new young men who are looking for some new type of sharpeners for knives.

In case you are aiming for something that’s durable and doesn’t weight much, then a ceramic sharpener is what you need. They are made of two ceramic rods on the sides and a big block of wood. These sharpeners will last a lifetime, but they are best suited to finishing a blade off or sharpening a hunting knife that hasn’t been burdened with a high degree of dullness.

But, there are many pocket sharpeners that can be carried on a trip to the woods since they are so small, they can help you restore the edge to your blade in case it gets a bit dull and needs sharpening.

The average family has no desire to file for bankruptcy. When credit card use becomes out of control due to poor financial management, bankruptcy can be an unwelcome reality of life. If you find yourself drowning in debt, seemingly without a way out, there are ways to rid yourself of debt. There are many ways to do so, even though some TV ads would like you to think that using a credit counseling agency is the only one.

Simple Ways to Relieve Credit Card Debt

The first basic steps to relieving yourself of debt incurred through credit card use are simple, easy, and you don’t need any kind of assistance to do them. For example, you need to establish a budget. Use it to keep tabs on exactly how much you spend on a monthly basis. Thus you will be able to see the difference between what you earn each month and what you spend. Some spending habits might not be compatible with your current financial circumstances. Even though buying a car doesn’t have to be done with cash, eating out constantly and charging every meal might an unessential activity that is causing you debt.

The budget you establish should be both flexible and realistic, since circumstances change constantly. As times go by you will be able to determine whether or not you need to adjust your budget with the goal of getting rid of your credit card debt as quickly as possible. If you feel that you need some outside assistance, credit card counseling services and debt relief can help you make a plan to get out from under debt by formulating a budget and even getting you a loan if your situation demands it.

Credit Consolidation

Credit card debt consolidation is another option that you can take advantage of to get out of debt more quickly. You might determine that it is best to focus on one credit card, bring the balance down to zero, and then move on to others. Choosing either the card with the highest interest rate or the lowest balance would be best, since your goal is to minimize overall interest being charged each month.

Taking out a loan is another way to pay off your debt quickly. Interest rates on home equity loans and mortgages are much lower than those your credit cards are being charged. For example, $60,000 in debt paid over ten years can change into $25,000 to be paid over four years with the help of a loan.

Debt doesn’t have to force you into bankruptcy. Using some of the simple suggestions on debt relief found in this article can help you to get rid of your debt before it becomes that serious.

There’s no place in India, which appeals more to the imagination of poets and painters, travelers and writers, than the magic of Rajasthan. And of all princely Rajasthan, Rajput forts, palaces and mansions that tell the tale of a bygone era, few are so magic as the lovely lakeside capital of Mewar, Udaipur. It’s one the most picturesque cities in India, set as it is on three beautiful Lakes and surrounded by hills. The city’s inherent romance and beauty, and its remarkable past, bristling with episodes of heroism and splendor, continue to enthrall the visitor.

There are many great fortresses all over Rajasthan, but very few can compare with Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. Perched on a rocky cliff, it has a commanding view of the surrounding landscape. This Palace complex was first built in the 15th Century and later added to, over the centuries by successive generations of Maharajas. It is one of the most impressive and rustic palace complexes of Rajasthan.

No matter how you’ll tour Rajasthan, you will pass through the new city of Jaipur at least once. Built in early 18th century, the city is well-planned one, based on the ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. The sprawling City Palace was an integral part of Raja Sawai Jai Singh II’s urban plan. Today it’s a museum that displays some of the finest collection of paintings, costumes, carpets and armory of that period.

But it’s Rajasthan medieval fortresses that lure most the visitor. One you’ll never forget is the medieval fortress town of Jaisalmer which rises out of the remote deserts of Rajasthan like a city at the very end of the world. The city even today has an exotically medieval flavor to it. Most of the town lies within the thick sand stone walls of the fort, and wandering through it is almost like stepping into the pages of the Arabian Nights. It’s bazaars are evocative of the days of the medieval camel caravans when the region was a trading emporium for splendid carpets, stallions from Arabia and wines from Shiraz.

To sample the opulence of princely Rajasthan you must spend at least one night in the Samode Palace, transformed into one of the premium palace hotels of India. The winner of the award for the best Heritage hotel in the country for five consecutive years, the Palace has been meticulously restored. Offering a retreat into the era of the Zamidars, the landlords of Samode and the principal thakurs, the village chieftains, who were a branch of the house of Kingdom of Amber, tracing their relation to the fabled Maharaja Prithviraj Singhji of Jaipur, Samode was one of the wealthiest territories in the Amber kingdom.

And not to forget, you can certainly end, or begin, your journey of Rajasthan with a vist at dawn to the legendary Taj Mahal, the most extravagant monument ever built for love. This wonder in white marble, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his wife Mumtaz in the year 1631, will never disappoint. It took 22 years and 20,000 craftsmen and laborers to complete the construction of this historic tomb of Mumtaz Mahal, the chosen one of Emperor Shah Jehan.

Which irrigation system according to you is a better option – drip irrigation or surface irrigation? The scientists and researches have always tried to irrigation systems so that the homeowners and garderners to help them reduce the water usage and maintain the yield stability

Some irrigation recommendations and scheduling you may consider. Previously, it was carried out on the basis of production practices. They also considered narrower row spacing. More recently, these issues are not taken into considerations. The researchers have been trying to make some improvements for surface drip irrigation so that it can become affordable for row crop farmers.

You’ll be surprised that subsurface drip irrigation is nearly 95 to 100 percent more efficient as compared to furrow and flood irrigation. In addition to this, drip irrigation also requires relatively less pumping capacity than flood or furrow on a per-acre basis.

Surface drip irrigation is also useful because it applies defined amounts of water, nutrients and other chemicals directly to the roots. This helps in quick crop uptake. This watering system is also affordable cost-wise compared to conventional irrigation systems. By using this irrigation system you are actually making the best use of water

This surface drip irrigation system is proved to be extremely beneficial for the vegetable producers as they are watering a smaller portion. One of the most beneficial importance of such irrigation is that they can slow down the weed emergence and their growth.

It is very much true that every irrigation system should be installed and used properly to get the best outputs, and the same applies to surface drip irrigation system.

Introduction

The term ‘control wear’ is a relatively recent one. At one time these garments were called stays then corsets or girdles. The word ‘corset’ has old fashioned connotations so no doubt with modern materials and technology there is a need to find new ways to update the concept of body control garments. It seems quite clever to me to find such a good generic word to describe something which is a delicate subject (even unmentionable) and at the same time to promote such garments so that they become fashionable and popular. Somehow the term ‘control wear’ gives the right emphasis and explains exactly what it does.Control wear is a garment that affects the shape and line of the body to improve the basic silhouette before adding the outer layer of clothing

Desirable silhouettes

Every culture has its idea of the ideal figure for a woman, and all the women belonging to that culture will try to fulfil this ideal regardless of their natural propensity. Who determines how the perfect woman should look is debatable, but there is no doubt it is part of the mating ritual so that men will find a woman desirable and want to have her for his mate. Different cultures have different ideas of beauty and some cultures like their women fat, others like them thin. Sometimes it’s colour of hair or eyes, other times it’s body fitness, long legs, long necks or wide hips, but usually it’s the myth (often unconscious) that certain shapes, styles or colour will specify the healthiest women for child bearing in order to fulfil our biological purpose to perpetuate the species.

When you look back through the centuries at the different styles of dress it becomes obvious that extremes of fashion usually appear at a time of affluence and leisure. It was only the very rich who could afford such luxuries of extreme styles. The poor had to make do with whatever they could find, or make themselves, to cover their bodies for warmth and decency. During times of hardship the styles became more practical and less elaborate. After the First World War some avant-garde women shocked the world by wearing bloomer like trousers when riding the new contraption called a bicycle.

In some ways things have not changed much today. The famous and wealthy spend an excessive amount of time and money on what they wear and the way they look and aim to create an image of the perfect male or female form for the rest of us to emulate. To that end they go on diets, have surgery or inject Botox, spend time with personal trainers and work out etc. As well as all that they find a need to resort to control wear to make sure there are no bulges or creases to mar their perfect form. When I was a very skinny teenager, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Mansfield were the models for female perfection with large breasts and small waists. I had the small waist but that was about all. Later along came Twiggy with her lean body and legs and I would have been the required shape but alas by then I had produced three children and could now emulate the previous models. Then came the period of flower power where anything went and for once in history women burned their bra’s and allowed their bodies to be free of restrictive underwear.

The term shapewear is the general name for any items such as corsets, basques, tummy control panties or tights and even bust enhancing bras.

History of Control Wear and Body Shaping Forms

Throughout history there seems to have been a need to change the female form or to modify it in some way. If you look back to the Elizabethan times, their huge wide skirts and flat fronts made women look like cardboard cut-outs. The skirts were so wide they would have to turn sideways to pass through doorways. Later there came differing amounts of bust enhancement, hip or bottom enhancement, waist constriction and wide skirts, as well as all the many variations in sleeve styles, neckline and collars, overskirts, underskirts, I could go on forever.

The earliest known control wear appearing during the 16th Century were called ‘pavre of bodies’ which contained the upper torso in the shape of a cone or cylinder. These forms later became the more familiar ‘stays’ which were made of wood or whale bone. The idea was to level the front of the body and in doing so push up the breasts so they bulged out of the top of the bodice. During one phase of the more promiscuous 18th century period, the nipples were encouraged to peep out, no doubt to titillate the male desire. Illegitimate babies were the norm and not treated as disgraceful during this time.

Stays were considered an essential item to keep the figure straight by supporting the back, tightening the midriff and improving posture. The restriction at the waist prevented bending and forced women to use their legs for lifting and thereby protecting their backs. Stays survived until the late 18th century when the empire style became into fashion around 1796. The bust was contained and pushed up by short stays and the waist line was just below the bust so that the natural waist line was concealed

When the waistline returned to its natural position the body restriction reappeared in the 1830’s. And the term ‘corset’ was used for the first time in English. Its purpose was to cinch the waist and support the breasts. During Victorian times the ideal form was an 18 inch waist with a full wide skirt supported by hoops to the floor. Ankles could not be seen and busts were emphasised but covered with lace for modesty. The shape I guess was determined by the natural figure of the young Victoria but exaggerated to create a fashion. To obtain this line the women forced themselves into whalebone corsets which were long, extending down beyond the natural waist line thus resulting in serious body-shaping. They were laced at the back therefore a maid was required to fasten the laces as they could not dress or undress themselves. To produce a tiny waist some women would have the corset pulled so tight they could hardly breathe. This then pushed the breasts upwards and compressed the internal organs.

During this period fainting was an art and it came easily when there was no room to breathe and everything else was squashed; added to that, the night air was considered bad for your health, so evening events became hot and stuffy. As a result dancing could cause women in the most robust health to feel lightheaded so it’s not surprising women appeared to suffer from indifferent health. A corset is designed to fit around the torso to shape it to the desired fashion. Body shapers come in many forms depending on the areas to be reduced or enhanced.

During the Edwardian period at the beginning of the 1900’s the Victorian style was replaced by the new look shaped profile. The bosom was raised and large, the waist small with a large bustle at the back to create a completely unrealistic female shape. The front of the skirt went straight down to the feet and there were many flounces tiered down from the back often with trains for formal occasions which had to be picked up and held whilst walking or dancing. Later to build on this shape, leg-o-mutton sleeves were added for day wear; although for evenings low necklines and short capped sleeves were the norm. These elaborate dresses cost thousands of pounds in today’s money so that again only the affluent could dress in this way. The average woman had to make do with home-made copies or just plain gather skirts and plain bodices.During periods when there was a shortage of women, probably due to hard work and having too many children, the men became the most fashion conscious and dressed in bright colours to attract the females, while the women wore dowdy colours and wore the hair pulled back and plain.

What is Wrong with our Natural Shape?

When you see the pictures by Degas of ladies bathing you will see that they are well rounded with tummies, big bottoms and legs probably with cellulite and well developed breasts. Very few of the women would be under a UK size 16. They still wore stays but mostly I suspect it was to support the breasts rather than reduce the thighs and hips. Gok in his TV programme ‘How to Look Good Naked’ encourages women to be positive about their bodies and focuses on choosing the right clothes to accentuate their best features. His success lies in the fact that after they have gone through this transformation, the women all feel much more confident and happy with the way they are.

However choosing the right foundation garments is essential to improve posture and create a smooth line to provide a good basis to make the most of the clothes that are placed on top.

Modern Control Wear - What Spanx can do for you

Modern control wear offers women the option of support and clean lines, without the restriction of movement experienced with the old fashioned corset. Spanx power panties seem to be the latest rage in control wear these days. I have not actually had the pleasure myself but I remember a friend saying to me last year ‘Power Panties are wonderful’. Old fashioned corsets are still worn by some people but gradually as the younger generation feel the need for some form of support they are looking to the more modern control wear used by celebrities such as Gwenyth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey, Kylie Minogue and even Madonna. Sarah Blakely the founder of Spanx could not find footless pantyhose to go with her cream trouser and open toed shoes. In her frustration she set out to tackle the 2 billion dollar hosiery industry. Within 2 years she had perfected a product that combined all the elements women love about underwear and changing all the elements they don’t like to provide a comfortable slim-line look with no VPL (Visible Panty Line). She started an underwear revolution selling 50,000 of her Power Panties in the first three months and revolutionised an industry that was in a ten year slump. Spanx Power Panties have put underwear back where it belongs and changed control wear forever.

Basques - Corsets on the Outside

In the more recent years of control wear there appeared a fashion accessory modelled on the old fashioned style corset but worn on the outside of the clothing. It seemed designed to show off the slim torso and enhance the breasts by lifting them. These were usually worn over a flimsy blouse type top, and were fashionable over the Christmas party period. The bodice was boned and came to a point at the front just below the waist. It could be worn with a skirt or even over trousers. Not everyone has the type of figure to suit Basques which are really more suitable for party wear and nightclubbing.

This type of corset is still available as underwear and is known as a ‘corset basque’ or a ‘busk’ and is reminiscent of the dress bodices seen in cowboy films worn by ‘the heart of gold’ hostess at the town’s hotel saloon. They are boned and shaped to create the traditional hour glass figure and are similar to the Victorian corset. Some are laced at the back but with no maids, very difficult to do up. There are high cut legs and longer lines, often with suspenders so create that popular striper-gram look.

Some main points to consider when wearing control wear are:- uplifting pants will firm the bottom; Padded bra’s will enhance the breasts; a padded plunge gives a great cleavage; corsets and waist nippers will take inches off the waist but most importantly, if flesh should escape at waist or thigh it means your control wear is too tight.A good basic outline will enhance any clothes that are worn whatever the occasion.

Conclusion

When you look at the history of fashion it seems that women are never happy with the shape they were born with. Today more than in any other time in history we are allowed to have a more normal shape, but even that has to be contained, smoothed, uplifted or cinched to make the female body more than perfect. There are now several programmes on TV which are promoting the message that natural is good and we are fine the way we are. A little enhancement here and there to make the most of the assets you have is as much as you need to do. It is reported that men in general prefer women to look real which for them is sexier than the extravaganza women think men want. Obviously they have their preferences for type and size and shape, but we can’t be all things to all men and the sooner women realise that, the more comfortable they are going to be.Men really prefer their women to be naturally beautiful without artefacts, enhancements or other false beauty aids

Since the appearance of Power Pants control wear lingerie has been transformed. Sarah Blakely has been described as the Pied Piper of the ‘wobbly bits brigade’ and her success has reached £250 million in global sales in the last year. Her products have become ‘the control wear to have’ and are worn by all the ‘best people’. There is a stigma for men wearing control wear so that they will not go out and buy such an item but wives and girlfriends are doing it for them. Manx the male version of Spanx is available on line and is promoted as a back support while playing golf, being good for posture and long car journeys. Once enough male celebrities admit to using control wear the rest of the world will follow.

At the end of the day we all want to look our best and if that means wearing a control wear garment that is what people will do. People both men and women want to be liked and admired and all the fashion contortions are just to fulfil our dreams of being the chosen one, the most beautiful or most popular. So however much we might like to believe we don’t need these devices, we all pay homage to them in one way or another.

You should always make sure to waterproof your basement walls when you are finishing it. Moisture entering through the walls of the basement  is the main reason that area of your house is more damp than the rest of the house. The most common reasons for water build-up problems in basements are caused usually by cracks, leaking windows and pipe condensation. Too much or prolonged water retention in the basement can cause a variety of problems.

Basement Wall Options

You do not have to stick to one particular method when it comes to waterproofing the walls of your basement:

- French Drains
- Hollow Baseboard Molding
- Sump Pumps
- Waterproofing
- Damp Proofing

French Drains - An exterior system running the perimeter or partial perimeter of your house for heavy rain run off drainage, or an interior system if water is coming into your basement through the floors or cove between the floor and the wall. Whilst the basement floor is still wet, dig a trench around its inside perimeter. A pierced plastic drain tile pipe is placed and encircled by stones and pebbles. Some wet basement waterproofing and repair contractors re-cement the floor over the French drain system leaving a 1 inch to 2 inch gap in the floor along the walls to allow the web wall seepage to drain below the floor into the French drain system. A drain that connects to a sump pump is usually  the French type.

System for installing a hollow baseboard channel use a waterprof-of epoxy for the bonding to the floor and joint. Water rising at a cove area in a basement will also damage hollow molding since it will retain moisture from a wet wall. More often than not, linked to a sump pump.

One item you can include when waterproofing your basement walls is a sump pump that can be installed below the basement floor. The sump pumps through perforations in the sump well located close to it, can collect underground water. Sump pumps have many uses such as floor drainage and to drain underground drain pipes.

There are many types and varieties of basement wall sealers on the market to choose from depending on whether you want to brush or roll the sealant product onto your wall, or you may choose to install a panel wall system to seal your walls.

In reality a good drainage system cannot guarantee dry basement walls. We need to evaluate the most economical method to stop moisture from getting in the basement walls and this may be damp proofing and waterproofing.

What is Damp Proofing?

You may be asking yourself what is involved in damp proofing your basement and the best example I can give of damp proofing would be to think of a castle with a moat and think about how to keep the water away from this castle; first you build the permiable pallette layer where you want the castle floor, then you would place a solid layer over that, then you would leave a vent space and lay your foundation; as for your walls, you would build your walls, then do your solid layer and then your permiable layer, and now you have damp proofed your castle.

Proofing products that are moist are usually made of tar in a solvent base.  Although these are a cheap fix, they are not very effective because they are designed only to slow down the moisture build up not prevent it.   The biggest problem is that, because this material becomes brittle, hairline cracks will appear as the foundation settles. Since the tar based coating does not stretch to cover these cracks, water will seep into the basement.

What is Waterproofing?

Waterproofing products are designed to ‘prevent’ water penetration even under wet conditions such as hydrostatic pressure in the soil after heavy rain or spring thaws.  The rubber used in Advanced Water Proofing Technologies products provides superior waterproofing protection and allows the product to remain flexible even after drying.  The concrete or block has a waterproof coating that stretches to make the foundation completely waterproof.

How to Apply

Obviously it would be most sensible to use waterproofing as it offers better long term results and you might well find that it comes with a guarantee that lasts for up to thirty years.

In the earlier days builders often did not consider waterproofing the basement walls as important. So now you can fix that with a product anyone can use. Most of the products are safe and easy to apply by the do-it-yourselfer.  Available even in 5 gallon pails or 55 gallon drums, they are ready for use and do not require heating or other application equipment – just the use of a brush or roller.  Commercial airless sprayers can be rented by the day to waterproof basement walls.  In 2 or 3 hours, a couple people using rollers can waterproof an average-size basement (about 1,000 square feet) without difficulty. So start it and enjoy the convenience of damp-less space.
